Professional - Assist. Instructor

The PADI Assistant Instructor program is designed to provide PADI Divemasters and those certified to leadership levels in other diver training organizations with additional training as instructional assistants and dive educators.  This program builds upon Divemasters’ abilities to organize and supervise dive activities, while concentrating on developing teaching skills.

Prerequisites:

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Have completed and logged at least 60 dives documenting experience in night diving, deep diving and underwater navigation
  • Be certified as a PADI Divemaster or as an instructor with another training
  • Be certified as a diver for at least 6 months
  • Submit, to the scuba diving instructor, medical clearance for diving signed by a physician, attesting to fitness to dive
  • Submit proof of Emergency First Response Primary Care (CPR) and Secondary Care (First Aid) training (or other qualifying CPF/first aid training) within the last 24 months

Program Structure:

1) Knowledge Development

23 modules through independent study and in a classroom
When: Every Thursday
Time: 18:45pm – 22:00pm (approx)

2) Confined Water Training
To be conducted in a swimming pool/confined environment
When: Every Sunday
Time: 9:00am – 15:30pm (approx)

3) Open Water Training Diver

Certification:

After you have successfully completed the program, you will receive your PADI Assistant Instructor certification.  On completion of your training, you are eligible to enroll in the PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor program and complete the entire PADI Instructor Development Course ("IDC").
